#413 “After school Special” Reviews By RivalHunter & Jenny

#413 Review By RivalHunter {A Guy’s Point Of View}

Let me just start out with a kudos to Brock Kelly, not only did he resemble Dean but his performance was strikingly similar.  I wonder if he was a fan of the show or just watched Jensen on set…

What I really wanted was more flashbackness!  In the first couple minutes one cheerleader gets called a slut she leaves to sit at the other table where a girl tries to comfort her only to get called a fat ugly pig!  Man, I’m not fat, I’m not a pig, and I would like to think I’m not ugly but damn those are some harsh ass words!! lol Aw, that’s like the first time I’ve ever cringed watching tv.  Damn right kids can be cruel haha and I thought the writers really captured this…

Things that I liked.  OH!!  Damn, when Dean pegged that poor kid!  Shit that was hilarious!! LOL.  LIttle Sammy, how can I say this..  He kicked ass! lol  possibly more than older Sam but not Evil Sam that’s for sure.  When the possessed nerd grabs the jock’s hand and puts it in the blender AWESOME!  Three legal cheerleaders HA! Did anyone noticed the chalkboard??  The Outsiders! That was what I call a cool tiny cheese-it :]

Moving straight along to the emotional arc.  This is one episode where I really didn’t care for the main story line, the bully being bullied, but I was way more interested in the amount of depth and how many undertones the episode had.  I don’t know what it was, the music maybe? or the fact it wasn’t pushed? And trust me I’m not one for the brother to brother moments give me action anyday lol. But this was good, it caught my attention, and pulled me right in.  A few deep things that I noticed,  Young Deans relationship with Little Sam, very loving and protective.  How Young Dean just macks on any chick and how the blonde chick got under his skin sort to speak to hit a few sore spots.  How Little Sam doesn’t care for the family business and assuming he still doesn’t.  How both brothers have a ”hero I-must-save” complex.  How Little Sam wants to be normal (some normal he grows up to be lol!).  Finally the last undertone we end up with, is Sam Winchester happy?  -pshh how could you be with Angels & Demons after you?

Anyways, It wasn’t a bad episode and I enjoyed it.  I hope all you enjoyed it as well!

#413 Review By Jenny {A Girl’s Point Of View}

My turn now… Well that was a fucking good episode ! Long time I hadn’t enjoyed a SN episode like I enjoyed this one ! So where do I start ? I loved absolutely everything in that #412 !

I loved Brock Kelly starring young-dean… Was it just me or were they absolutely similar in their way to be ? To talk ? To joke ? To be protective over Sam ? (Should I mention the “That Kid Is Dead I’m Gonna Rip His Lungs Out !” Scene ?! I really loved to watch that scene with the younger versions and the older versions !) To Hookup ?! lol I’ve been totally blown away ! I gotta admit I was really scared about the actors that were supposed to play the younger versions of our boys but damn that was stupid cause, Brock WAS Dean & Colin WAS Sam ! I mean seriously, from time to time I have had the feeling that I really was watching Sam – Or Dean – When he was younger… Colin is an amazing actor ! Man, Hope he gets a lot of roles in the future cause he absolutely deserves it !

As for Brock… Well what can I say ? He was such a badass… As much as Dean is right now… He made me laugh my ass off when he said to the teacher “I don’t need it sweetheart” LOL then you see the teacher who’s looking at him like “Oh crap that kid’s gonna screw with me !” lol

Another thing that was hilarious, was “Teacher-Dean” Loool when he pegged that kid I laughed so much that I cried ! It took me a hell of a long time to get over it ! And actually I didn’t get over it yet, I’m still laughing writing this lol I’m wondering how did Jared stay serious shooting that scene ? Man, I’m really looking forward to the S04 “Gag Reel” lol ! Anyways…

Something that I really wasn’t expected and that surprised me a lot… Was the “I’m A Hero” Scene… Wow… Seeing Dean pretty messed up because some random chick was feeling sorry for him… You know, so messed up that he’s almost yelling in the entire school “I’m a hero I save lives” And then you realise that no one near him… Considers him as a hero and it hurts a lot… I mean, to me it was heartbreaker to watch that scene… Also, another thing… For once, Sam was the cool one… Well kinda surprising cause we’ve always considered Dean as the cool one during 04 years, right ? I mean… At least I did… And well I kinda liked to see things getting different… I liked to see Sam being the cool one for once… And also something I really loved… For the half part of the previous episodes, the whole storyline was kinda centered on Dean… And in that episode, well I felt like it was centered on Sam for once, and I liked it too !

Now what else can I add ? Except that… That episode makes my top list.

Sera Gamble – TVGuide Interview Part. II

What’s the difference between angels and demons? Will Sam ever reunite with his mother? Does Dean have more to tell about Hell? Why is Ruby so “different”? And what’s coming up that is more than intense? Supernatural supervising producer Sera Gamble made time this week to answer a second batch of TVGuide.com reader questions. So sit back and gain even more insight into the CW’s spooktacular series (airing Thursdays at 9 pm/ET).

I’m sure one or two of those people Dean tortured in Hell weren’t demons, but regular folk who had an error in judgment. Will Sam and Dean ever run into any of them? — K.

Sera Gamble : We batted around a few versions of that idea, but we’ve been focusing more on his torturer, Alastair. The pertinent details of Dean’s Hell story get told through that relationship. There’s more to come in a future episode.

Is Eric going to be directing a episode in the last half of the season? — SherryLynn75

Gamble: Eric is directing the season finale.

I read the spoilers for Episode 18. Is there any chance you will play the character named Sera? — ckll

Gamble : Nope. There is a character named Sera Siege though. There are characters named after everyone on the staff. The episode starts out dizzyingly meta: Sam and Dean discover a book series called Supernatural, about the adventures of two demon-hunting brothers named Sam and Dean. Every detail is spot-on. Obviously, this is deeply alarming to them. Julie Siege wrote the episode, and she was very even-handed, in that she managed to take hilarious jabs at the writers, the fans and the boys. The story eventually twists in an unexpected direction that’s more grounded and substantial — it’s not just an amusing exercise. But if there was any doubt that we have a sense of humor about ourselves, this ought to clear it up.

What is the difference (besides what I guess you could call their “political” affiliations”) between the angels and demons? I ask because their policies seem to be pretty similar: Both sides are into possessing humans; both sides are into destroying large numbers of humans and both sides are willing to do extreme measures with no regard for the suffering of others to achieve their objectives. — MrKWoodmaid

Gamble : Their methods are often eerily similar, huh? I find that pretty interesting. One big difference is that demons used to be human. Angels never were. Demons may have lost their humanity, but it could be argued that angels never had it to begin with. But: It’s not entirely true that angels have no regard for the suffering of humans. Castiel is clearly troubled by it. Anna was so compelled by humans that she chose to fall. You’ve got to take angels on a case-by-case basis.

Does Sam know what his mother did? Related to that, will we ever get to see Sam interact with his mother in some fashion? Or perhaps get some insight on how he feels about her or his father? — CharlotteJane

Gamble : Dean told Sam all about the events he witnessed in “In The Beginning,” yes. We alluded to that in the following episode. Further insight into how Sam feels about his folks: yes. We get into that on more than one occasion. As for actually seeing Sam interact with his mother: can’t promise quite yet, but Vegas money is on yes.

Even though Episode 9 explained why Ruby was so different this season, can we expect further explanation? — Kerri-Ann

Gamble : I’ll keep it general — ’cause I can’t really be more specific without violating the terms of my Ruby Nondisclosure Agreement — and just say that there is more to come regarding Ruby, the change in her attitude and her relationship with Sam.

Will there ever be an episode about the Jersey Devil? — irishgirl

Gamble : Not this season, so visit your local wishing well and petition for a Season 5.

Are we going to get a “Headless Horseman” episode anytime soon? That would be a great urban legend to cover. — Freyja

Gamble : It’s on the master list of urban legends, and comes up periodically. No time this season. Hit up that wishing well again!

Will DemonMeg, Ellen, Lilith, Alastair or Anna be back anytime soon? — BradleyL317

Gamble : Yup, you’ll be seeing Alastair and Anna again soon. And Lilith will be making a reappearance later this season as well.

Dean always seems to get the mystical journeys, from “What Is and What Should Never Be” to “Dream a Little Dream of Me” and “In the Beginning.” Will Sam ever get a chance to really get inside his soul and see what lies within it? — coolguypadalecki

Gamble : Oh, yes. Episode 421. I’m searching my brain for a more intense word for “intense.”

Espy in Staten Island, New York: Thanks for all the Supernatural scoop, but what about Castiel (Misha Collins)? Is he ever coming back ?

Kristin : I’m told we’ll next see Castiel in March-ish. In other news, Lilith hijacks the body of a dental hygienist and returns to wreak havoc on the Winchesters in ep 18. Last but not least, you have to watch this sneak peek for Thursday’s SPN, which flashes back to Sam and Dean in high school. That’s a positively uncanny Jensen Ackles-as-Dean impression, if you ask me !

Kim Manners Passes Away

BuddyTV has confirmed from a spokesperson from Supernatural that the show’s director and executive producer Kim Manners passed away Sunday in Los Angeles due to complications from lung cancer.

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke released a statement saying, “Everyone at Supernatural is walking around in a daze, shocked and absolutely devastated. Kim was a brilliant director; more than that, he was a mentor and friend. He was one of the patriarchs of the family, and we miss him desperately. He gave so much to Supernatural, and everything we do on the show, now and forever, is in memory of him.”

Many fans first learned the news from Supernatural star Jim Beaver’s MySpace and Facebook pages early Monday morning. On his official MySpace page, it said “Jim is in mourning for one of the best friends and best directors he’s ever known – Kim Manners, who died last night from lung cancer.”

When BuddyTV visited the set of Supernatural last summer, Jensen Ackles spoke about how well the cast and crew get along. Ackles mentioned Kim Manners, saying that he explain the feeling best when Manners said “We spend way too much time with each other not to enjoy each others’ company.”

Manners got his start in television in the late 1970s as a production manager and director for Charlies’ Angels. He worked steadily as a TV director through the ‘80s and ‘90s until joining The X-Files in 1995 as a producer. His work on that show helped earn him four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series.

On Supernatural, Kim Manners has served as an executive producer since the beginning and has become one of the most influential figures behind the scenes of the show. He directed 17 episodes, including every season finale, the season premieres for the last three years, and his final episode was this season’s “Metamorphosis.”

BuddyTV’s deepest sympathies go out to the Manners family and everyone who works on Supernatural.

Last Edit : 01/26/09 – #412 “C. A. I. A. D. B.” Reviews By RivalHunter & Jenny

#412 Review By RivalHunter {A Guy’s Point Of View}

This episode was herald and people on the net were calling this the best title for episode ever.  I wonder if Criss Angel knows about this and what would his reaction would be.. hmm. Anyways with that said I hoped that it could deliver and shock shock surprise, it did! :]

This was take on magicians the way we’re used to them (on TV, at shows, some parties, etc.) and what happens after youth is gone and the next gereneration to take over, oh yeah and literal killing tarot cards lol.  I thought it was a good idea.  Haha

Some things that caught my attention…  The first thing I noticed was amount of Douche words used in the first couple minutes of the show lol I counted about 5 and I wish they would’ve kept on with it for comedic factors but they didn’t, still funny tho. Douchebaggery!! That was a friggn’  awesome term, I give props just for that lol!

X of Swords means ruin and pain but literally I guess it would kill..  Same goes for The Hanged Man card but I really didn’t get the last card The Magician, I think they could’ve had some other card like Ace of Swords or something…

So afterwards Sam and Dean show up. they investigates, talk to old farts where Dean learns to meet a man named “Chief” OH YEAH!! LOL!  Oh God I must’ve jumped up from my seat yelling I KNEW IT! IIIII KNEWW IT!!  I was just talking about this last week hahhhaha anyways ARGH I wish they would’ve ran with the idea (like at least have Jensen wearing a zipper mask or somethin’ hahha toss Hunta-Jen a bone! LOL)  and you know Dean had one helliva good time with it!! After all, our boy is kink now ;) and psh! safe word?? sike! thats rin tin tin dean he dont use no stinkin’ safe word HA! Alright moving on… lol.

Sam meets Ruby who tells him that 34 seals have been broken. Okay so why haven’t we seen any broken seals??  We really really need to see some friggin’ seal action instead of some these ‘stand aloners’  come’on more action for me please! :/

Towards the end we learn who the villian is and shock shock surprise the douche bag as an immortallity spell, (is it just me or does every bad guy have a secret immortallity trick??) One of the old farts kills his best friend because it’s the right thing to do. (Aw thats sad) Then he ends up miserable with nothing..

One thing I did not like in this episode was the emotional arc about Sam wondering if would die young or get to live old and hunt demons.  I thought they pushed this too much.  This then leads Sam too leave with Ruby in order to build up his Demon power to kill Lillith.  Not the best emo-moments but eh, I guess some story build up is better than no build up at all.  Overall this episode makes my top list!

#412 Review By Jenny {A Girl’s Point Of View}

So… Maybe I’m the only one but I kinda didn’t like that episode… I mean… I was hoping for more… I wanted the writers to give us some juicy news of the Angels… Also wanted to know where was Alastair… Wanted to see Castiel… I mean… It was a “Stand Alone” Episode and I’m kinda tired of these… You know a Stand Alone episode from time to time is good… But too much stand alone episodes… Not such a good thing for me…

Anyways… We’ve learned nothing new about the Apocalypse… Well that’s not entirely true… Yeah actually we’ve learned that Lilith has broken 34 seals so far… That’s it… That’s weak, isn’t it ?!

As for Sam and his “Evilish Powers”… It was the ONE Thing I liked in that episode… (Not talking about Ruby at all, her appearance in that episode was definitely useless… Skip forward please lol…) I’m really wondering what the hell does Sam have to do to “Cut Lilith’s head off” ! If he really can kill that bitch with his powers then I’m dying to know how !

Hope we’ll see him using his freaking ESP Stuff again, I miss that storyline and I like to see Sam falling – Each time, a little bit more – In the depths of Hell using his powers…

Now about the whole “Magic-Tarot-Cards” Thing, well it was a good story, and I was kinda feeling sad for that poor elderly who doesn’t have anything left now that he killed his “Brother” He was pretty messed up… Definitely twisted and I liked it… Yeah the synopsis was kinda good…

And to conclude… Damn right RivalHunter, I kinda didn’t like the whole “Emotionnal Scene” Between Sam and Dean… Sam’s wondering if he’ll still be hunting demons when he’s 60… What’s the fucking point in knowing that ?! Sorry but I can’t see any connexion with the myth-arc thing, does anybody see any ?!

Anyways… It was a good episode but I really need to see some Angels action now…
