Ask Ausiello – The Ausiello Files

Question: I’ll send you some birthday cake if you give me some Supernatural scoop about the 100th episode. —Annie

Ausiello: In the milestone episode, airing April 15, “a very important character will sacrifice themselves in a suicide mission,” reveals exec producer Sera Gamble. “We definitely kept in mind that this was [an important] episode. We wanted to deliver something with real scope; it’s about the Archangel Michael. Crises will come to a head for Dean and Castiel. And you’ll see characters you never thought you’d see again.” Here’s the pan I want you to use for my cake.

Now I’m really but I mean REALLY thrilled! “a very important character will sacrifice themselves in a suicide mission,” (I guess Ausiello meant “Himself”) PLUH-EASE Don’t tell me we’re talkin’ about Castiel here! (Bobby maybe?) both case: I’m SO NOT OKAY With that!

And as far as “you’ll see characters you never thought you’d see again” my guess : Ash, Gordon, Bella, and… I can’t think of anybody else for now… Any suggestions guys?!

Jensen Ackles – “Batman : Under The Red Hood”

Thanks to our friends over at SupernaturalWiki.Com, for the heads up…

Batman: Under The Red Hood

It was announced on February 10th, 2010 that Jensen has voiced Red Hood in a soon to be released animated DVD “Batman: Under the Red Hood” Source

He spoke about the role here:

There really wasn’t any heavy acting choices to make,” says Ackles regarding Red Hood. “It pretty much just bounced off the page, and I just tried to do it justice. With working in this medium, once you get clear on all the specific pronunciations and how the tone of the voice needs to rise and fall, it was really about focusing on the more emotional elements of the script, especially in the intense moments and trying to envision the scene with the characters. And envisioning yourself in that scenario. A lot of times if you can do that, if you can put yourself there, I think the voice follows suit.

Between his work on Supernatural and now the world of Batman, Ackles obviously has had some experience working in what has affectionately been called the “fan boy genre.”

The positives of working in this genre are that the fans are extremely devoted,” he offers. “People really invest themselves in these stories and characters, and the mythology behind them. To be a part of something that so many people really get behind and want more of is extremely gratifying.

* First look at Batman: Under the Red Hood Part One and Part Two – Jensen is featured at the 2:50s mark

Trivia: In 3.03 Bad Day at Black Rock, Jensen as Dean says “I’m Batman”

The DVD will be released in October 2010.

Will Misha Collins Appear on ‘Supernatural’ Season Six ? [Watch W/ Kristin]

Will Misha Collins Appear on ‘Supernatural’ Season Six ?

Denise in Janesville, Wis.: I’m hoping you can answer this question since it has turned into a very heated debate among the Supernatural fandom. The so-called hot topic is this: Does Misha Collins’ contract with the show end this year, or does it run through the newly announced season six? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kristin: We checked on this for you, and insiders tell us that as of right now, Misha Collins’ Supernatural contract is just through to the end of the current fifth season—in part because when his deal was being worked out, there was no such thing as a season six.

Sources close to the CW Award-winning Best Supporting Actor are “hopeful” that Misha will be asked back for season six, but as of right now, folks close to the recurring player are in the same holding pattern as the rest of us.

News about whether or not we’ll get more Misha should come down over the coming weeks and months as the writing staff sorts out storylines for season six.

So, do you guys want to see more of Castiel/Jimmy in season six of Supernatural? Use the comments to tell the powers-that-be how you feel about Misha! It might make all the difference in the world…

God I think my heart just stopped beating for like 10 secs… That is so… I mean… I’m really not okay with that… I cannot imagine that show without Misha anymore… This is so not fair…

‘Supernatural’ Exclusive: Eric Kripke Stepping Down as Showrunner [Ausiello]

Thanks to our friends & affiliates, SpoilerTV.Com, for the heads up…

‘Supernatural’ exclusive: Eric Kripke stepping down as showrunner
by Michael Ausiello
Categories: News, Supernatural

Aw, hell. I had a bad feeling Supernatural’s early season 6 renewal came with an asterisk.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that creator Eric Kripke will be stepping down as the CW drama’s day-to-day showrunner next season. Executive producer Sera Gamble, who has been with the show since season 1 and is awesome, is poised to succeed him.

But, and this is a big but, Kripke will remain actively involved in the show — and not just in name only. Although CW and Warner Bros. reps declined to comment, a Supernatural insider assures me that Kripke and his current co-showrunner, Robert Singer, will continue to function as hands-on executive producers.

Eric and Bob will be working very closely with Sera,” says the source. “They are not abandoning the show.

Kripke has long said that he envisioned Supernatural as a five-season show. But in an interview last August, he clarified that stance. “I’m looking at this season as the [last] chapter in this particular story,” he told me. “That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story. Buffy did it. The X-Files did it. You close a chapter on a big mythology storyline and then you begin a new one.” Asked whether he would be involved in a possible sixth season, Kripke hedged, “I don’t know. I’m going to cross that bridge when I get to it.

Kripke is said to be finalizing a new deal with Warner Bros. that will feature a big development component. In other words, his diminished role on Supernatural will free him up to create another awesome show.

It’s all about the silver lining, kids! C’mon, work with me here!

Okay, fine. I’m sure all you’re seeing is the dark cloud that is Kripke’s big (euphemism alert!) career transition, so use the comments section to work through your anger issues.
