‘SUPERNATURAL’ EP SERA GAMBLE TEASES SAM’S CRUMBLING WALL, ‘SHOCKING BEGINNING’
Last week I teased the first hour of Supernatural’s two-hour finale (airing May 20), and now, I come with intel on the show’s second hour, which EP Sera Gamble says opens with “a bang,” as the wall in Sam’s mind that protects him from his darkest memories falls down. (An event Jared Padalecki himself spilled on here.) “You see Sam in a state he’s never been in before pretty much at the top of the episode,” she says. “Structurally, he does a couple of pretty interesting things in that episode.”
Um, I’m worried. Nay, pleasantly terrified. “I will say that hopefully it’s entertaining. It’s like when you start to think about what that could be in your imagination — something completely spun out in all directions — except hopefully we give you something you were thinking and some unexpected twists,” she says. “We like to throw stuff at the boys that they weren’t prepared for as much as possible.” I only hope we’re prepared for the trauma. Probably not. But that’s the fun of it.

THE CW ANNOUNCES EARLY PICKUPS FOR FIVE SERIES FOR THE 2011-2012 SEASON
For the First Time Ever, “America’s Next Top Model” to Feature All-Stars from Past Cycles for the Fall Edition
“The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl,” “90210” and “Supernatural” Also to Return Next Season
April 26, 2011 (Burbank, California) ? The CW Network has given early pickups to five of its established series for next season, including an All-Star Cycle of AMERICA’S Next Top Model and the network’s top-rated drama THE Vampire Diaries. All five shows will return in Fall 2011.
With AMERICA’S Next Top Model ordered for both cycles next season, The CW’s signature reality series will kick-off the Fall with its first-ever All-Star Edition, featuring the models who became breakout characters and who had the most memorable stories from past cycles. Additional details about the cast, judges and prizes for the All-Star cycle of Top Model will be announced at a later time.
The CW’s bloodily addictive hit THE Vampire Diaries was also given an early renewal, and in its sophomore season, remains the network’s most-watched show (4.0 million viewers) and the network’s number-one show among its target audience of women 18-34 (2.9/9).
Also given early pickups for next season are The CW’s scandalous guilty pleasures Gossip Girl, the network’s second most popular series with women 18-34 (2.8/7), and 90210, which posts some of TV’s largest percent increases from DVR playback, more than doubling its women 18-34 live ratings once live+7 data is included.
The network also renewed fan favorite SUPERNATURAL, which enters its seventh season next year. In moving to Fridays last September, SUPERNATURAL immediately helped make The CW more competitive on the night and dramatically contributed to year-to-year gains on Friday of 66% in adults 18-34 and 60% in viewers.

DISH ON SUPERNATURAL‘S 2-HOUR FINALE
It’s Supernatural Friday, fans! And while I teased tonight’s episode in Tuesday’s column, today I come to you with news from the show’s two-hour finale, a double-dose episode that comes in two distinct parts.
“We heard pretty early that we should be prepared for them to air on the same night,” executive producer Sera Gamble says. “We had so many threads to tie up this season, we didn’t end up telling one story that stretches over two episodes. Instead, they work as companion pieces and separate episodes.” And while Gamble says both episodes are brother-centric and “very much about Sam and Dean coming together,” the first part deals primarily with Dean’s storyline this season, which found him struggling with his identity.
“He started this season completely out of the hunting life, and he has a lot of fears about the worst version of himself in that situation — who he could turn into and the bad he could do to other people,” she teases. “There’s a reason he has so few people in his life, and it’s because he has a lot of fears about what he could bring into their lives – what he could do to them. He has to face that in this episode.” Of course, on this show facing your fears tends to mean one thing. “We look at those issues through a Supernatural lens, which is fun because then they get really bloody,” she says with a laugh.

Ask Ausiello – TVLine.Com

Question: So… Supernatural. I just love that the brother dynamic has returned now that Sam’s got his soul back. Can we expect some great brotherly love in this season’s remaining episodes? —Julia
Ausiello: You can. As exec producer Bob Singer previews, “Dean is willing to trust him completely. And by season’s end, they are in total lock-step with each other, saving each other’s lives and having that relationship the fans crave.”

‘SUPERNATURAL’: WELCOME TO THE OLD WEST
A few weeks back, I laughed out loud when I first read the loglines for “Frontierland,” the highly anticipated episode of Supernatural that takes Dean and Sam on a search for Samuel Colt, because it said Dean was “beside himself with excitement” at the prospect of time traveling to the Old West. I remembered that line as I watched the episode, and I couldn’t have put it better myself. It’s hard not to smile a little as the boys head back to the 1800s, zarapes and all. The episode also marks the introduction of Castiel’s angel lieutenant, Rachel. And for those of you who pondered: No; she’s definitely not a romantic companion. Sorry, the real love-fest in this episode is between Cas and Bobby, who share some really great moments, particularly when one of them finds themselves caring for the other. (D’awww.) The real hero of this episode, however? Sam’s thingamajig. You’ll have to watch to see what I mean by that (…perv). Bonus scoop: Dean has a “fetish,” and we learn what that is. It might be related to something I already mentioned.
